Pocomoke High School Addition and Renovation - Pocomoke City, MD
Construction Management - Preconstruction and Construction. This $30.7 million project involves renovation of the existing 70,657 SF facility and the addition of 50,500 SF of new facility space, including an improved athletic complex, new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and data systems, and associated sitework. The mechanical system includes a closed loop, 330 well, vertical field geothermal system.
Manchester Valley High School - Manchester, MD
Construction Management - Preconstruction and Construction. The Manchester Valley High School is a $79 million facility designed for a 1,293 student population and will provide program space for grades 9 through 12. The building will include 217,500 SF of occupied space, excluding penthouses, and is situated on a 100 acre site just south of the Town of Manchester. The school will be the first High School, and second school, in Carroll County to incorporate geothermal heating and cooling.
Pangborn Elementary School, Hagerstown, MD
This is a new 85,840 SF two-story, 735 student, $26.8 million school facility to replace the present Pangborn Boulevard ES constructed in 1955. The new school will provide program spaces for Pre-K through Grade 5. The multi-purpose room with stage and gymnasium will be accessible to the community for use during non-school hours. Construction of the new facility began immediately adjacent to the existing operational school facility. Challenges to the construction include creating/maintaining a safe and secure construction site with existing, then new school spaces being occupied while construction and demolition is occurring at the site. Upon completion of the new facility in August 2008, temporary student classrooms will be removed to an offsite location and the existing building will be demolished. Upon removal of the demolition debris, final site grading and construction of new athletic fields will be completed.
Rockland Woods (Westfields) Elementary School, Hagerstown, MD
This is a new two-story, 83,128 SF, $26.7 million, 735 student school facility located in anew and developing community in Hagerstown. The new school will provide program spaces for Pre-K through Grade 5. Construction includes concrete foundation, steel and masonry structure, brick veneer, metal siding, multiple roof types, elevator, and a four-pipe HVAC system. The multi-purpose room with stage and gymnasium will be accessible to the community for use during non-school hours.
Ebb Valley Elementary School, Manchester, MD
This is a new 2-story, 73,602 SF, $21.5 million K-6 elementary school facility including a state-of-the-art media center, gymnasium, cafeteria, kitchen, classrooms, administrative offices, geothermal HVAC system and development of the 20 acre site. The school is designed for 526 students (including 10 special education). This is the first school in Carroll County to institute a geothermal heating and cooling system. Sitework commenced August 2006 with completion in June 2008. The RFP required an Owner Move-in date of 6/24/08. SPN received a full Use & Occupancy Permit on 6/11/08, allowing the Owner to “move-in” two weeks early.
Worcester County Career and Technology Center, Newark, MD
This is a new $36.4 million facility, adjacent to the current Board of Education facility, of approximately 139,077 SF, including structures of one and two levels, including associated sitework for parking, vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and all service and access. The 320 well geothermal system is the largest constructed to date for Worcester County Public Schools. The system utilizes one ground level main mechanical and three raised independent mechanical mezzanines.
